2024 SHOW ~ SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER
Wrea Green Show
Originally staged in a field next to the Institute during the
1940s by the Wrea Green Garden Produce Society, the
Annual Village Show was re-introduced in 2016 by the
newly formed Wrea Green Horticultural Society. The 2022
Show, held in a marquee behind the Institute, attracted 570
entries and was visited by hundreds of villagers.
The Show is very much a village event and to qualify to
enter you must either live in the village or the immediate
surrounding area (click here to see a map), be a member of
Wrea Green Institute or attend the village school.
Wrea Green Rose Queen, Ginny
Williams, cut the ribbon on the
marquee to officially open the 2022
Show and a record number of
visitors came along to take a look at
the 570 entries. Congratulations to
Edwina Maskell, who won the
Banksina Medal for a second time,
and all the Class winners. Edwina is
pictured on the left, receiving her
medal from Show Chair James
Bretherton.
The Duck Trail also started on
Saturday afternoon and hundreds of
families enjoyed a ramble around
the village.
We will be staging our 2023 Show on Saturday 2nd September.

The weather was once again kind to
us as the forecasted showers stayed
away until the Sunday evening and
everyone was able to enjoy another
fabulous weekend.
Well done to Annette and Steve from
Ribby Road on winning the coveted
Duck Trail Trophy, which was once
again kindly sponsored by Roland L.
Whitehead & Daughter.
The Sunday Picnic has become hugely
popular since it was introduced and
2022 was no exception with families
enjoying their own picnic, the beer
festival and music provided by firstly
Cartwright Guitar Show and then
Voodoo Live.
Unfortunately the picnic was brought
to a premature end when the heavens
opened in the evening.
